Installation Instructions - SilentCurtain

SilentCurtain Noise Barrier is a flexible, reinforced mass-loaded vinyl (PVC) that resists the passage of sound waves and reduces the transmission of airborne noise. SilentCurtain is used as a free hanging acoustical curtain panel, typically with grommets and loop fasteners.  SilentCurtain may be rolled up, hung, or laid flat for off-season storage.

SilentCurtain utilizes a high strength poly fabric on two sides in combination with mass loaded vinyl to dramatically improve its appearance, durability, tear, and hanging strength.  SilentCurtain Noise Barrier will not shrink, rot or cause metal corrosion and also features a strong resistance to adverse environmental conditions and UV light. 

Installation: 

  • SilentCurtain panels should be hung plumb and flat to their full width.  Do not "pleat" like a fabric curtain
  • Adjacent panels must overlap one another by at least 1" to prevent sound leaks
  • For best results, attach at every grommet
  • Allow at least 24 hours for the panels to fully "straighten" after hung, longer if cold
  • Panel bottom should just touch the floor/ground.  Avoid gaps as much as possible
  • The top of the panel should be suspended just touching the support frame (pipe, timber*,etc).  Avoid large loops/gaps between panel and supporting framework
  • Hang panels only by provided grommets - do not pierce the vinyl with fasteners
  • Fastening methods include Nylon Zip ties, cord/rope loops, metal hooks. Metal fasteners should be waterproof to prevent stains or mechanical failure by rusting

*For direct attachment to timber or square channel, attach the grommets directly against the vertical face (rather than underside) of the support, using screws and washers
